iGPS Search – New Session Filter

The iGPS team has made updates to the Add from Course Search inside a student’s iGPS Plan and to the iGPS Public Course Search.

  • Filter for “Session” added. – Go to “Class Filters” to filter by session.
  • Improvements to “Keyword” searches. The team is improving the keyword search algorithm so that students do not have to perfectly format the class number to get the results they want. (Note – there are still some iterations like “MATH-M118” that aren’t yielding the expected results. I’ve reported these and the team is continuing to refine the algorithm.)

Milliman Presentation and Resume Workshop

Hi all,

Milliman officially will be visiting IU on Tuesday, October 5th at 6PM in Hodge Hall 1046. They are planning on including a few other departments in their presentation.

The presentation will consist of not only information about working at Milliman and career opportunities, but also background information on the actuarial profession as a whole. They will discuss topics such as what a typical day looks like, the kinds of things that their office values in a potential employee, advice on the actuarial exam process, and a Q&A session

You all are encouraged to bring a resume if you are interested in an internship or full-time role. You also must apply on their online job board in order for Milliman to contact you about potential employment.

I realize that a lot of recruiting is happening right now, so I thought it would make sense to have a resume workshop as our next meeting. This meeting will take place on Monday, October 4th at 7PM on Hodge Hall’s second floor (room TBD). I will give a short, 5-10 minute presentation on resume pointers followed by around an hour of editing and one-on-one help. Feel free to swing by whenever, even if you can’t make the beginning of the meeting. I will stick around until 8:00PM.

If you can’t make Monday’s meeting, I am happy to make edits/suggestions to any of your resumes!

Best,

Eric
