Apply for scholarships and awards

Did you know that IU has an IU Scholarships portal in One.iu that you can use to apply for scholarships and departmental awards? Go to One.IU  search for ‘Scholarships’ and choose ‘IU Scholarships’.

IMPORTANT:  The Math department’s Spring Awards can only be given to students who create a general application in One.IU in IU Scholarships. 

To get started, all undergraduate students will complete a general application.  This consists of answering 5 required questions and electronically signing before submitting.  The application contains many questions which are designed for incoming undergraduate applicants (future freshmen), please ignore questions that do not apply to you.  Continuing undergraduate students need only complete the 5 required questions.  This general application may be created at any time during the academic year. But, please complete it now for consideration for the Math dept’s spring awards.

NOTE: one of the required questions is whether you have or will file a FAFSA for the coming year.  Since some funding opportunities are given to students who demonstrate financial need, please consider filing the FAFSA to provide the greatest access to funding.   Another way to show financial need is having a job, be sure to include any employment in the application, in the question about jobs you have had and whether you plan to work or not next year.  Especially, if you are a UGI in Finite please mention it in your essay, this would be helpful for our faculty reviewers. Also, mention any economic hardship in the Essay section and how an award would help.

You will be sent emails from IU Scholarships about specific opportunities for which you are initially eligible, but may need to provide additional materials.  You can search the opportunities by searching ‘Mathematics’. Or, even better, take a look of our list of spring awards online and then search for specific opportunities you are interested in using the “our opportunities” search in the IU scholarships portal.
